Our Story
How Mind Dojo began — a vision for a health ecosystem that refuses to treat mind, body, and community as separate problems.
It Started With Lived Experience
Mind Dojo was founded by Justin Lokay, who built it out of his own experience. He has lived with anxiety and depression, and he has navigated serious illness — moving through the mental health and medical systems not as an outside observer, but as a client trying to get well.
From the inside, the system felt fragmented. Getting help meant juggling three or four disconnected providers — a therapist in one building, a psychiatrist in another, a wellness practice across town — and no one talking to each other. The hardest part of being unwell, he found, was often the work of holding all the pieces together yourself.
The idea behind Mind Dojo was simple: what if all of it lived in one place, designed to work together, with one team that actually coordinated care — so no one else had to do it alone?
From Therapy to Ecosystem
Mind Dojo started as a therapy practice — IOP, individual therapy, psychiatry, trauma care. As our clients got better, they kept asking questions the therapy room wasn't built to answer: how do I feel physically strong again? How do I build a life I want to live? Who do I do this with?
Those questions became Mind Dojo LUX — precision wellness, physician-guided — and The Mind Society, our community arm where scholarships, sponsored care, and real connection live.
Today Mind Dojo serves Western Pennsylvania from two locations in Monroeville and Irwin, with a clinical team, a wellness team, and a community that keeps growing.
Still Building
The ecosystem isn't finished — and we don't want it to be. Every year brings new programs, new partnerships, and new ways of closing gaps between clinical care, wellness, and community.
Our focus is not simply treatment. It is transformation — for the people we serve, for the field, and for what care can look like when it's actually designed around the person receiving it.
